What happened to SimpleTalk? The Chapter 7 filing, and what it means for customers.

UpdateBy CenterfyUpdated

The short answer

Simpletalk, LLC, the Florida company behind the SimpleTalk AI voice platform, filed a voluntary Chapter 7 bankruptcy petition on October 5, 2026 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Florida (case 26-23313, trustee Joel L. Tabas). Chapter 7 is liquidation, not reorganisation: the business does not continue. From September 25 onward, customers publicly reported their agents being switched off and their accounts locked without notice. On October 13, 2026 the simpletalk.ai website returned a 404 error. If you ran calls on SimpleTalk, assume the service is not coming back and move your numbers, prompts and workflows now.

What customers reported

The shutdown was not announced on the company's website. The first public signs were customer reviews, and they describe individual accounts rather than a provider statement:

  • Friday, September 25, 2026. A customer reports on Trustpilot that SimpleTalk “shut down and padlocked everything” that day with no notification to clients, and that access to their GoHighLevel sub-account was never released.
  • September 28 to 29. Several reviewers report agents deactivated and nobody answering support. One says customers were emailed that the company was bankrupt and that agents and data would be lost by September 30.
  • October 2 to 8. A reviewer describes losing access to their data and being contacted by resellers pitching replacements. Another reports a smooth migration to a different provider.
  • October 13, 2026. When we checked, simpletalk.ai returned a 404 error. The app login page and the documentation site still loaded, which says nothing about whether any agent is answering calls.

These are user-submitted reports that Trustpilot does not verify, and we have not verified them either. We found no statement from the company. The bankruptcy docket is the only official record, and it does not say which accounts stopped working on which day.

What this means if you used SimpleTalk

  • Your agents are not coming back. Chapter 7 liquidates the company. Nobody is maintaining the platform, paying the vendors it ran on or answering tickets.
  • Your phone numbers may be at risk. SimpleTalk's documentation required calls to run on Twilio or Vonage. If those numbers sit in a carrier account you control, you can move them today. If they sit in an account SimpleTalk controlled, act now. See Can I keep my SimpleTalk phone number?.
  • Your prompt probably survives in GoHighLevel. SimpleTalk stored the agent prompt as a custom value in the connected GoHighLevel location and wrote tags back to contacts. If you still have the location, you still have the prompt, the contacts, the conversations and the calendars.
  • Webhooks and workflows now point at a dead endpoint. Any GoHighLevel workflow or Zapier step that called SimpleTalk's API to start a call is failing silently. Pause them so leads are not marked as contacted when nobody called.
  • Money already paid is a bankruptcy claim. Setup fees, prepaid minutes and the current month's subscription are claims against the estate. Dispute recent card charges with your bank where you can; beyond that you are an unsecured creditor.

What to do next

  1. Forward every affected number to a person or a replacement agent today, even a mobile phone, so inbound calls are answered.
  2. Export what you can: the prompt (GoHighLevel custom values), contacts, call notes, calendar settings and any recordings you can still reach.
  3. Pause the automations that trigger SimpleTalk calls or texts.
  4. Secure your numbers: if they are in your own Twilio account, connect it to the replacement; if not, start a port or buy replacements.
  5. Rebuild on a platform that will still be here. Centerfy's team sets the agent up for you and connects your existing Twilio numbers and GoHighLevel. See how a move works.

Frequently asked questions

Did SimpleTalk go out of business?

Yes. Simpletalk, LLC filed a voluntary Chapter 7 petition on October 5, 2026 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Florida (case 26-23313). Chapter 7 is liquidation: a trustee winds the company up, and it does not keep operating. Customers had reported their agents switched off from September 25, 2026.

When did SimpleTalk shut down?

Customers report that agents stopped and accounts were locked on Friday, September 25, 2026, with more reports over the following week. The bankruptcy petition was filed on October 5, 2026. We have found no announcement from the company itself.

Is SimpleTalk's website down?

On October 13, 2026, simpletalk.ai returned a 404 error. The login page at app.simpletalk.ai and the documentation site still loaded. A login page loading does not mean any agent is answering calls.

Will I get a refund from SimpleTalk?

Unlikely through the company. Prepaid fees and unused credit make you an unsecured creditor in a case the court has designated “no asset”, and unsecured creditors in such cases usually receive nothing. You can dispute recent charges with your card issuer. Read the notices the court mails you; this is general information, not legal advice.

Where can I verify the SimpleTalk bankruptcy case?

On the public docket: Simpletalk, LLC, case 26-23313, U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Florida, filed October 5, 2026, trustee Joel L. Tabas. CourtListener mirrors the PACER docket at https://www.courtlistener.com/docket/74917431/simpletalk-llc/. Match the debtor name, court and filing date together.

What happens to my SimpleTalk data?

Whatever lived only in SimpleTalk's systems, such as dashboard settings, call recordings and transcripts, is under the trustee's control and should be treated as unrecoverable. Whatever SimpleTalk wrote into your GoHighLevel location, including the prompt stored as a custom value, contacts, tags, conversations and calendars, is still yours if you can log in to that location.

Can Centerfy recover my SimpleTalk account or agents?

No. Nobody outside the bankruptcy estate can reach SimpleTalk's systems. Centerfy rebuilds the agent from the prompt and business details you still hold, connects your own Twilio numbers and GoHighLevel, and tests it with you before calls move over.
